I came across a moulting Little Penguin at Breaker Bay two days ago. It's quite a surprise to see penguins in moult, as usually they look sleek.
Some people say that moulting penguins look 'miserable', but I wonder if this is an example of anthropomorphism (attributing human characteristics to animals or things). I'm sure that moulting is uncomfortable for penguins, and that they'd rather be at sea. But this penguin just looked to be waiting it out.
